Purpose:

The purpose of the Health Professions Pathways Program is to support and encourage underrepresented and disadvantaged individuals to pursue health careers to develop a more culturally and linguistically competent healthcare workforce.

Description:

HPPP is designed to recruit and support students from underrepresented regions and backgrounds to pursue health careers. HPPP is a competitive grant opportunity that is awarded to organizations that will develop and implement health professions pathways programs that can include pipeline programs, summer internships, and post-undergraduate fellowships.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible Applicants:

  • Nonprofit
  • Public Agency

Depending on the award category, HCAI will accept proposals from the following: 

Public and private universities and colleges  
Health professions training programs
High schools or school districts proposing to serve high school students. 
Health professions training programs  
Community-based Organizations
Community Health Centers

Eligible Geographies:

The HPPP activities are open to all participants regardless of age, gender, race, or ethnicity. Program activities should include individuals from historically underrepresented populations and regions and encourage practicing in health professional shortage areas (HPSA).
