Elevate Youth California: Cohort 6 Standard Track
Details
Purpose:
Through this round of Elevate Youth California funding (Cohort 6), the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is making approximately $48 million available to community-based, tribal, and county behavioral health organizations throughout California to expand youth and young adult substance use prevention through policy, systems, and environmental change.
Description:
Elevate Youth California is a DHCS statewide program addressing substance use disorder by investing in youth leadership and activism for youth of color and 2S/LGBTQ+ youth ages 12 to 26 living in communities disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs. This statewide program provides funding and technical assistance for organizations proposing to implement programs that empower youth to be community leaders and create positive policy and systems change.
Elevate Youth California aims to strengthen the capacity of youth-serving, community-based, and tribal organizations throughout California to use evidence-based and community-driven practices for substance use disorder prevention among youth and young adults ages 12 to 26. The program seeks to fund healing-centered, culturally proficient programs in rural and urban communities. Priority will be given to organizations throughout California that strive for health equity, focus on youth ages 12 to 26, and work on culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate prevention projects.
Since the program’s launch, $257.78 million dollars has been awarded through 365 grant awards. For information about Elevate Youth CA partners, visit www.elevateyouthca.org.
