Purpose:

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will expand its efforts to achieve the ongoing goal of reducing youth access to alcohol by combining enforcement with training and educational programs. Enforcement training grants will be awarded by ABC to local law enforcement agencies.

Description:

The Alcoholic Beverage Control will sub-contractor outreach, awareness, and education as key factors in reducing (and ultimately eliminating) crash fatalities caused by drunk and impaired driving.  Working with a network of community partners, including law enforcement, schools and educators, coalition groups, and through the support of local businesses, the sub-contractor will educate and inform community members across the state of the risks and consequences of drunk and impaired driving. This education is typically accomplished through the ongoing efforts such as distribution of printed materials, public speaking engagements providing educational presentations conducted by the sub-contractor’s staff, trained volunteers, and/or paid interns, participation in community events such as health fairs and coalition meetings, and participation in checkpoints and minor decoy operations to focus on improving traffic safety.
