Purpose:

Purpose is to increase awareness and use of existing free tobacco cessation services among low income individuals, who disproportionately experience high rates of tobacco use. The overall efficacy and cost-effectiveness of funding 211 Call Centers to integrate a process into their existing workflow to proactively identify and refer tobacco users and their proxies to the CSH for enrollment in free cessation assistance will be evaluated by CTCP.

Description:

The purpose of this Request for Application (RFA) is to fund up to ten, 2-1-1 Community Information and Referral services (211 Call Centers) to proactively identify and refer eligible callers to the California Smokers’ Helpline (CSH). This project is designed to increase awareness and use of existing free tobacco cessation services among low income individuals, who disproportionately experience high rates of tobacco use. The long-term goals are to accelerate quitting behaviors and significantly reduce tobacco use. The overall efficacy and cost-effectiveness of funding 211 Call Centers to integrate a process into their existing workflow to proactively identify and refer tobacco users and their proxies to the CSH for enrollment in free cessation assistance will be evaluated by CTCP.
