Purpose:

The purpose of the Program is to increase the availability of free comprehensive civil and criminal legal assistance needed to effectively aid adult and youth victims/survivors of crime who are seeking relief in legal matters related to that crime. Funds may not be used to provide criminal defense services.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible Applicants:

  • Nonprofit
  • Tribal Government

Applicants must be organizations providing pro bono legal assistance (e.g., law schools, bar associations, Tribal governments/organizations, legal aid/statewide legal services agencies) or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide direct victim/survivor services.

Eligible Geographies:

All California counties.

Matching Funding Requirement:

Applicants may apply for up to $214,000, for the 12-month Grant Subaward performance period.
