Purpose:

CDFW will provide funding to implement watershed and community enhancements in areas impacted by cannabis cultivation.

Description:

Proposals to enhance watersheds and communities should solicit funds for, but not limited to: road decommissioning, road crossing upgrades, erosion and sediment delivery prevention actions, culvert upgrades, water conservation, cleanup and remediation of impacts of illicit cannabis operations on private lands, and/or enhancing biodiversity and wildlife habitat within watersheds, among other projects of similar nature.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Public Agency
  • Tribal Government

Eligibility under this Solicitation is defined by Fish and Game Code Section §1501.5(b). Eligible entities include: federal, state, and local public agencies and institutions within California; nonprofit organizations qualified to do business in California and qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of Title 26 of the United States Code; and California Native American tribes as defined in the Public Resources Code section 21073.

Eligible Geographies:

Funds under this Solicitation will be available for projects statewide. However, proposed projects within a Cannabis Priority Watershed, as defined by the State Water Resources Control Board in coordination with CDFW, and/or identified as a priority stream in the California Water Action Plan are encouraged.

Matching Funding Requirement:

Cost share is not required; however, proposals with higher proportions of secured cost share will receive higher scores during the evaluation process.
